The laptop won't start in safe mode, or in normal mode, or under
"using last known good configuration".
Upon removing the laptop sata Hard disk, I can view the files on it,
but can't locate the recycle bin where the dll file I need now sits.

Turn on "Show hidden files" on the computer you're using to view the
HD, that should give you a C:/RECYCLER folder with a number of
subfolders. Hunt around in them.


C:/RECYCLER (or in this case K:/RECYCLER because I am viewing the
laptop HDD through my PC) - there is no such folder, at least not
viewable through explorer. Typing that path straight in to explorer
just takes me to an empty space with "0 objects" and "0 bytes"


No backups?

The other option is a complete reinstall (or even repair) of Windows.
I would do this but upon Windows loading from CD, the installer tells
me there are no drives connected to the laptop, which presents a bit
of a brick wall. I tried a couple of times, and ensured the HDD was
pushed in fully.

That's probably due to it being on a SATA controller that the CD
doesn't have drivers for. F6 and a floppy with the right drivers.

Where shall I get the SATA drivers? And can I do this without a floppy
drive? The laptop doesn't have one, and neither do I.
