I'm trying to get some understanding of memory and failing on this
point. In my Asus A8N-E manual the section on System Memory it states
that: "Due to CPU limitation, DIMM modules with 128 Mb memory
chips...are not supported in this motherboard."
When I go to Crucial and do a search for suitable A8N-E memory many of
the sticks of memory listed are described as being 128Meg x 64.
It isn't that I've got a mistaken understanding of the situation, it's
that I've got no understanding of it at all, can someone please tell
me how come?
I don't know the answer to your question, but if you buy memory from them
using their memory advisor then you have an extra level of guarantee if the
memory is wrong.
I also have one of these boards (very good they are too!) and bought my RAM
from Crucial too.
I've had no problems at all with it.
Cheers!

That's what I usually do. Take it on trust from those with good
reputations.
I was just trying to advance my understanding a bit, to avoid slipping
ever closer toward "Cargo Cult" status.
Not that there's anything wrong with the Cargo Cult, especially if the
pay-offs good.
