My XBox is actually hooked up to a Dell 20" 16:10 monitor which
happens to have composite and S-Video inputs. It's great as a
monitor, but I suppose it's possible they fitted really lousy
circuitry on the TV inputs.
They did, the SD scaler is pants. I use a 24" Dell 2405fpw, and
whether over composite or component an SD signal looks pretty ropy
I don't just get dodgy scaling with my XBox though. The colours look
washed out and there's a lot of noise on the signal, especially
noticeable on plain black backgrounds seeing as it displays them as
dark grey instead.
That's definitely wrong. Xboxes generally have very good output.
I plugged a VCR into the monitor once and don't remember thinking it
looked particularly awful. I suppose I should try a DVD player some
time.
Have you tried the xbox on any other telly-like objects?
