You have to take PG's writing, there, with a (very) small pinch of
salt. His findings are essentially sound but I've been told that there
are a couple of small technical errors (something to do with which
kinds of PC connectors carry which signals, IIRC, possibly corrected
now anyway). These don't invalidate his arguments in any way, but have
led others to discount his work entirely.

Note, also, that the article at that URL is now considerably longer
than his "original article" -- it's worth reading again even if you've
read the original.

PG is a respected academic and IT security specialist. I know of his
work from his participation in Public Key Cryptography Standards
forums, where he has shown an ability to see the bigger picture and
identify the real issues that need solving. He has, AFAICS, no axe to
grind here. Take note of what he writes.
