I've had my share of shocks in my time. The most severe one was at just
12 v DC from a hefty capacitor.

I suspect, not so much an electric shock as an electrically instigated
shock from the molten globs of copper (or whatever shorted out that
'hefty' capacitor :-).

No, it was only me who shorted it out. And nothing blew up.

Let me guess. You touched its terminals against your tongue? :-)

Wrong. As it was over fifty years ago I'm not too sure of the precise
details now, but it was probably touching the terminal with one hand and
earth with the other hand - or finger and finger.
