I really do not know what has happened with your copy, but TrueImage does include disk cloning, and this must have also been the case with v8, unless my memory is corrupted.

As it turns out, the "full product" version 8.0 offered by PC pro, does not offer disc cloning. It's actually a knobbled trial (but not timelimited like other offers from the Acronis website). I should complain to PC Pro :-|

However....

Build a BartPE CD with the plugin for Acronis TrueImage 8.0 (which ye get for free after registering the Acronis software) - and, voila, ye get disc cloning!!

IMO It's worth spending a small time doing this, and stashing the CD in your emergency box next to other recovery discs. BartPE is pretty cool in itself.
