Each downloadable build, from the website, for whatever version adds new
drivers, so its possible (and I think likely) that the latest builds have
the drivers for USB keyboards, but do not have one to hand to confirm that.
It certainly works with USB mice though.

Any comments on backup speed using USB hard drives and Acronis?

No comments from me. Never noticed anything too slow. I back up my laptop
wirelessly as well.
