Their site is totally useless and comes up with absolutely nothing

Philips don't make PC's, is this a PC World special badged as Philips?
Mind you the PC World site is unlikely to be any better.

I finally got it sorted. Neither the Philips nor PC World web sites were any
help so I tried phoning the PC World support number. Although they weren't
able to come up with a definite answer they were surprisingly more helpful
than I'd expected. After navigating the usual phone menu the call was
picked up immediately by someone who actually sounded to understand the
subject and wasn't working from a standard script for droids. After
checking her documentation and asking some colleagues the general consensus
was that the side panel should slide off but if I continued to have
difficulty please call back and they'd contact some of their field
engineers to see if they knew of any problems.

It turns out that the side panel does in fact slide off backwards in the
normal way after removing the 2 knurled screws, but needs lots of force to
start it moving, after which it flies off with a rush. It's not helped by
there being only a flexy bit of plastic to get a grip on which feels as
though it's going to snap off before it moves.
