I have a Dell Inspiron 8200 which gets used and abused. A common problem
I've had with well used laptops is that the cable fails due to repeated

failure.

I've got the exact same model and my cable is failing in the same place.
I've (hopefully) delayed complete cable failure by wrapping some DUCK tape
around the connector to stiffen the cable and prevent it bending too
sharply
when used.
Yes, this is the second cable failure I've had. I had one PSU go AWOL and
kept the cable from that so splicing that cable with the first failure saved
me. I think I can rescue this one with a soldering iron and a bit of a lash
up.
It might not interest you, but did you know that the inspiron 8200 can be
expanded to 2GB memory?

I'm also a bit fed up with normally having to purchase a whole PSU to fix
a
simple cable fault because the plug is non-standard.
Does anyone know of a source of suitable plugs for cable reairs? The PSU
is
a PA-9.
Thanks,
Paul
