When installing for the first time is it possible to have partitions on oneNo it is not that simple! But you can keep the application data on a separate drive.
drive set up as
C:\ - Windows System
D:\ - Optical Drive
E:\ - Applications, Microsoft Office, other programs, etc
F:\ - Documents
And then when the time comes for a re-install, I only need to re-install the
OS and not all of the programs - or is it not that simple?
Additionally I'd like to know if it is possible to move the current bootI use Bootitng from Terabyte to do this. I have two copies of Vista on my PC which I select from a menu when the PC starts.
partition to another drive and dual boot it with the newly installed OS
until things are set up the way I like and then delete it without a trace,
so the system no longer dual boots?
Both appear as C: drive. The second copy was actually made by cloning the first copy, though the first time I used it I did have to show it the Vista DVD.
Both copies are registered (using the same licence key) and receive updates.
My data lives on another drive which I can always see. This does confuse the 'My documents' type facilities in Vista, partly because I did not install the directory structure before I cloned the C: drive.
