A couple of days ago I posted here about my problem with an FX 5200,quickly
realised that the card was on its way out, so replaced it with another FXdisplay
5200 but one with more memory (128mb vs 256mb).
Card arrived and swapped it over, machine boots and immediately there's an
improvement, up to 600x800. Computer recognises card and installs it as I
already have the drivers in the system. Go to Control Panel > Display and
try to change display to highest setting. Unfortunately my monitor doesn't
support 2048x1536, so I got the "Mode not supported" message and the
reverted after a short time. Then tried 1024x768, clicked apply. Displayor
switched immediately, but throughout the whole of the 14 seconds time you
have to confirm, I had the hourglass, so I couldn't click OK to confirm,
press <Enter>. Then the display reverted and the machine hung.600x800
Tried installing updated drivers, same result.
Tried uninstalling the card completely, rebooting and installing latest
drivers from clean, same result.
Tried going into advanced, selecting 1024x768, 32 bit and 60 Hz, same
result.
Tried setting the display from safe mode, but it still comes back to
in main.get
Any ideas how to get past this? Have tried other display resolutions and
same problem.
Marcus
Ok, managed to get it to work by turning off "everything" that loads at
startup.
