Hi, my daughter has an old HP Omnibook laptop running windows 98, with
64MB of RAM and a 4.5 GIG hard drive. Now I know the battery has gone
and I need a new one in the future, but apart from that, it runs fine.
What are the chances of upgrading the Laptop, so that it runs XP. I
believe it's got an onboard graphics card, but i'm not sure of the
size. Would I need a larger hard drive, and how much memory would I
need? (SDRAM) Would it need anything else for the upgrade?
I used to own an Omnibook XE2 with Celeron 433mhz, 64mb RAM and 4.3gb Hard Drive and after I upgraded the RAM to 192mb I installed XP on it no problem and it left me with about 2gig HD space. It ran really well no joke. I ended up selling it to a friend for £ 400 back in Oct 2001 and he still uses it to this day for Internet and email. Having only 2gb free space has never caused him a problem, he just manages what he has effieciently of course he would like more but computers aren't a big thing in his life.
