I have a couple of hard disks in my system at the moment, but they are

I want to replace these 2 HDD's with a cool running 500GB version
(around that size). Any good ideas?
Going by the contents of the various NAS I look after and their
temperature reporting, Hitachi seem to be the coolest running.
It would be worth your while adding an extra case fan as well, even
though you're taking some heat away: HDs only dissipate about 10-12W
into the case as heat, and are in no way the major contributors to the
system temperature. CPUs and graphics cards are the biggies, but
changing the cooling mechanisms on those is far more expensive.
Remember to allow for warm days, unless your ambient room temperature
is very controlled - we lost a lot of machines in summer'06 here in
the UK!
