I wanted to be able to view Media Centre on my monitor in the logged in account while using Remote Desktop from my laptop at the same time. But everytime I tried logging in through Remote Desktop, the machine crashed. Please tell me if you have any luck with it.
I found the link for the page for this, in Google Web History.

From looking at the most recent comments, it seems that other users have had similar problems, so I think there has been a Windows Update, and this hacked .dll is an older version.

Personally I avoid such hacks, as they tend to cost time and money in th e long run.
Remote Desktop (where you initiate a secure session from another PC) is only available in Vista Business and Ultimate. Remote Assistance allows the user to send a "helper" a token which in theory allows them to connect to a shared session (visible to both). Under XP, if you were operating through a router (ie NAT) you could edit the token to use the public IP address, and this would work if suitable port-forwarding was set up on the router. I haven't succeeded in getting this to work under Vista (yet?). I understand you can offer Remote Assistance, but only to machines on the same subnet. Haven't made this work either (not sure I remember trying).
I've used VNC quite a bit - this works under Vista, but any operation which triggers UAC (User Account Control) popups will cut you off smartly - a nuisance, but reassuring from a security point of view. I haven't yet tried it when UAC is disabled.
