Err, I think your motherboard name is incorrect. The K8V was an S754
motherboard, and I don't think they made any Semprons lower than ~2600+
for S754.

I may have the CPU name wrong, but it does run at 1700, so whichever name fits the description, i'll go for that.

The mobo name's right, though. i have the manual by my side.

There's a K8V-MX but nothing with "mx400" or anything similar. AMD never made a CPU for socket 754 with a .5 multiplier. 1400MHz, 1600MHz, 1800MHz and upwards are possible.

It shouldn't be hard to find an A64 3400+ second-hand for an S754 board.
