Goes to this man's house. PC would not start at all. Swapped out the
PSU,
jobs a good'un. Then he tells me this tale about how a guy from Sky
came to
do his broadband recently and while he was there said that the man's
machine
was running a bit slow and that for £50 he would sort it out, to which
the
man agreed. The Sky guy then proceeded to nuke this mans legit
install of
Windows XP Home and install a none legit copy of Windows XP Pro.
Killed all
his apps that he had on and data and left him with a bog standard
install of
Pro complete with WGA pop-ups and everything! If someone can get £50
for
making a *** heap of a mess, god knows what someone doing it properly
should be earning!

Also demonstrates what you are up against, as believe you me, Joe Public
will sooner ask someone to do it for £50 all in, than the £150 worth of
time (and the rest) it will take you to do it.

Shows that it is better to sort out the problem by yourself. Don't trust
a PC repairer from the local classified pages.

Does make me wonder how many cowboy's are out there. Maybe the BBC should
do one of them undercover shows and catch the lamers out!
