AVG wasn't compatible with Vista release candidate 1, but should be OK now.

I ended up using Avast free edition with the RC, and had no problems. (Well,
not with Avast anyway!)

It wouldn't take long to give Avast a try; if it still BSOD's you can then
pretty much eliminate the AV from the list of potential offenders.
