I am building a whitebox server for home use (number crunching
mainly). The only components in this server are:
Asus P5M2 motherboard with onboard VGA
1 * Intel Core 2 Duo CPU (E6320)
4 * 1GB DDR2 PC2-5300 RAM
1 * Maxtor 40GB SATA-II HDD (STM340211AS)
1 * Intel Pro/1000 Gigabit NIC
1 * DVD rom
So there is not going to be a graphics board and there's only one
HDD. Can I get away with a 450W PSU in here?
Thanks for any advice.
steve
Personally I see no reason why a 350W wouldn't suffice.
( Intel® CoreT2 Duo processors support an 800 MHz, 1066 MHz, or 1333 MHz
system bus; perhaps reconsidering the RAM may be an idea? -Since you have
the capability in the CPU you may as well use it.)
