I become very frustrated when a laptop battery life diminishes and you
just know one of two cells inside are the cause.
Spending £60-£90 to replace the whole pack seems an awful waste when you
consider most of the individual cells are of a standard type.
Can anyone tell me if they have successfully prised open the battery
pack and soldered in replacement cells?
Surely this cannot be that difficult (apart from perhaps re-closing the
pack housing)?
Have you tried to drain the battery completely outside the laptop, e.g.
using a 12V bulb? The battery contains some logic circuit that tells
it that it can no longer charge, but sometimes it lies...
I opened another old one and 2 of the 8 cells were completely dead.
