Have you tried to drain the battery completely outside the laptop, e.g.
using a 12V bulb? The battery contains some logic circuit that tells
it that it can no longer charge, but sometimes it lies...
Don't think so, the life is poor as well as the full charge never being reached
I opened another old one and 2 of the 8 cells were completely dead.
