Ok, fuckwit. I've been building PCs for 17 years. Not really, if you can't get wifi working in Ubuntu.
Better?
Sorry Conor, but I disagree. Linux now seems to be massively better at supporting wireless cards now without having to resort to ndiswrapper than it was when I last tried it a year or two ago, regarding Ubuntu at least. I have a card with a historically problematic chipset for Linux (whatever's on the Netgear WG311 v2, I ended up having to use ndiswrapper last time), and I was pleasantly surprised to have it working out of the box with Ubuntu (the only issue was I had to enter my setup details manually rather than using the roaming client).
Also, looking round there's a lot more information available on ndiswrapper than I recall there being previously, if someone does have to go down that path. I had a hell of a time even discovering that ndiswrapper existed last time.
Wireless aside, I've found Ubuntu to be far better at handling USB devices too, eg. no download required to get my Samsung ML10 running, or to get my K800i/K810i phones charging (which now requires you to install all Sony's bloody software just to get the drivers on your machine!).
