I have a machine which, about half the time, won't complete PowerOnSelfTest (POST, for anyone even less clued-up on hardware than I am!). This machine starts to show BIOS messages, but all-too-often quickly ends up with a blank screen with a flashing cursor top-left. What's that all about?
On some occasions it boots fine...
Dodgy memory, PSU, or motherboard (check for bulging or leaking capacitors). How old is this machine anyway? When did it start playing up?
