Depends on what hassle you get and if you can resolve any issues. For instance Vista refuses to work with my 3Com Boomerang NIC and Turtle Beach SantaCruz sound card. The grass ain't so green in the MS camp either.
Everyone knows Vista sucks and should be avoided at all costs. Who wants to PAY to finish the beta testing that MS didn't....?
Vista works fine on my Acer 5633WLMI laptop designated Windows Vista Premium Ready... on my brothers PC with a 965P-DS3 he had to buy a new printer becuase he couldn't get his Lexmark working even with Vista drivers... now his new printer HP F380 has stopped working under Vista (although it did initially work for about a month). When you try to reinstall the software it gets to stage 3/4 then goes into an endless cycle repeating stage 3/4 but never getting to stage 4/4. He tried the printer on an XP machine and it worked... we think something in his installed copy of Vista has broke and it will take a repair install to fix it but when we tried doing that the compatibility report said we needed RAID drivers and stopped. We have the drivers on floppy but as yet have not looked into how to tell Vista install that we have got the drivers - my brother has resigned himself to selling the F380 for £ 30 (it cost him £ 94) and buying a new printer preferably not HP.
I must be crazy as I`m going to install Vista 64-bit on my new machine once I have the replacement parts I have already looked into the possibility of getting drivers for my PCI WiFi card its a dabsvalue Edimax 7128 with the Ralink RT2561 chipset - I`m not sure if Edimax have Vista 64bit drivers but on the Ralink site they do so I should be ok. I think I`ll be alright for drivers for everything else in my system and as long as updated 32-bit programs work under 64-bit Vista I should be fine.
