Re: Changing Dual Boot Priority

Hi

I have a dual boot system I want to change.

My original OS was installed on one hard drive with Windows XP. I wanted to evaluate Windows Vista so I purchased a second hard drive (both drives are SATA) and installed Vista on this new drive. The installation created a boot screen allowing me to boot to XP or Vista at start-up.

When in XP the installation shows the XP drive as C: and the Vista installation on drive D:. When in Vista the installation shows Vista on drive C: and XP on drive D:.

I now wish to go with Vista only (don't scoff I like it) what will happen if I remove the XP drive and re-install the Vista drive on SATA port one? does boot information reside on both drives? and will the machine boot into Vista without problems?

In the end I want to be able to boot straight into Vista, re-format the old XP drive and use it as a second storage drive.

Any help appreciated

Unplug the XP drive and then try!

If the PC won't boot, you may find that you can recover the Vista installation using the Vista DVD.

(Using Booitng I have two copies of Vista on one drive. The 2nd copy was a clone. To get the 2nd copy to start the first time I had to show it the Vista DVD.)
