A long time ago I bought high-density PC133 RAM from Crucial. There is nothing wrong with high-density RAM; it's just a matter whether the motherboard is compatible with it or not.
Different meaning of high-density. I doubt Crucial ever sold unbuffered SDRAM with x4 chips.
x4 compatibility is hard to guarantee, unlike chip density. Just knowing the chipset isn't enough, because BIOS support is often untested. Also, many of these eBay sticks are actually faulty, not just incompatible - I knew someone who bought a pair of 1GB high density sticks, one worked, one didn't. They probably sell on the faulty ones.
