So, clean XPSP2 install from OEM Slipstream CD..
Update Intel Chipset Drivers with latest from Intel.
Update Nvidia Drivers with latest from Nvidia.
Update Audigy Drivers with latest from CLabs.
Update NIC Driver with latest from Intel.
Run WUPDATE and install all Windows Updates.
Install MS Office 2003.
Install NAV Corp.
Install Acrobat Reader 8.0 - It finishes the install cleanly, icon appears
on the desktop, PDF files associate and change their icon.
But the PC won't launch reader at all.
Double clicking a PDF, or just running the EXE, it just won't launch. Any
ideas anyone ?
I tried installing in XP Safe Mode as well, but the installer doesn't like
doing that.

Even if you get the Adobe monster working you may find you prefer one
of these

HTH ;)

Hear, hear. I use Foxit - works perfectly, doesn't take up half your
hard disk, doesn't hog all your resources, doesn't phone home every time
you run it...

Yes, but it'll cost you £20 for the reader alone, plus more to "create" PDFs. Office
2007 for example can write files into PDF format, and the free Adobe reader works
(once you get rid of Norton).
