Double clicking a PDF, or just running the EXE, it just won't launch. Any

I tried installing in XP Safe Mode as well, but the installer doesn't like
doing that.

Even if you get the Adobe monster working you may find you prefer one
of these

Hear, hear. I use Foxit - works perfectly, doesn't take up half your
hard disk, doesn't hog all your resources, doesn't phone home every time
you run it...
Yes, but it'll cost you £20 for the reader alone, plus more to "create" PDFs. Office
2007 for example can write files into PDF format, and the free Adobe reader works
(once you get rid of Norton).
