If there can be any sort of damage due to overheating, what can it be?
drive (unless you are using a totally effective backup solution, and
very few people are). Get some SMART software to monitor the HD temp,
and make sure that it's not approaching the manufacturer's recommended
max.

Running the CPU or RAM at high temperatures can reduce its life and
produce random data errors or lockup/shutdown, and there are components
on the motherboard might suffer, so use monitoring software to check
that too.
