I`m trying to work out memory usage in Vista - under XP you used to have Commit Charge which was the amount of RAM being used all you have under Vista is a Memory graph is this the same reading as the old Commit Charge.

If so it says I`m using about 600mb of RAM where under XP with the same sort of stuff loaded I was using about 400mb so about 200mb more being used.... but I do have got a lot of Acer bloatware running on my system so I reckon you could run Vista quite OK on 512mb as long as no bloat loaded... ie a clean install and don't install the extra crap.

As Conor said, SuperFetch caches a lot of things so that things run quicker. Vista will try to use as much memory that you have for this. Unused memory is useless. When applications need the memory, Vista re-allocates it to them.
