I recently bought a new desk/workstation, but the lack of legroom is
driving me crazy (the low printer shelf seemed like a good idea at the
time!). So, time to try again.
The main issue is that it needs to be strong enough (and have space)
for a 22?.CRT monitor. That seems to rule out nearly everything I have
found so far, as they are all designed with TFTs in mind. It also has
to provide enough legroom for somebody who is 6' 3?.
A sliding keyboard shelf would be good, but apart from that I am not
too fussy.
Anybody have any suggestions or pointers?
Thanks
I bought two of these (sorry, long URL, no time to tinyurl it)
http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?topcategoryId=15564&catalogId=10103&storeId=7&productId=63030&langId=-20&categoryId=15801&chosenPartNumber=80089003
and put them end to end. I even trimmed one down and mounted the tops
offset, but that was just to be super-optimal in the room I had (I wanted a
continous 2.3m bench, and the Ikea table proved to be the cheapest and
easiest way to do it for me.
Just one of the above at 57 quid makes a pretty decent desk - solid wooden
top, strong enough to stand on and deep enough to be comfortable.
