I don't know anything about the Belkin (except that most people regard them
as rubbish) so I don't know whether it can support the configuration that
you use(d) with the old BT router.
You could use it in a different configuration, though. Let the Belkin be
the DHCP server running the subnet that the main server and all the
workstations can see, then set up a second private subnet between the two
servers (using the second NIC in the main server which would be connected
to the NIC in the backup server using a crossover cable or a cheap hub) --
the backup server does not need top be connected to the Belkin at all.
