Re: AMD X2 Dual Core Chip Question

When I read about the benefits of these CPUs: sites always mention the
ability to do simultaneous CPU intensive operations but I was wanting
to know will there be improvements in single processor intensive
operations. will single CPU intensive operations benefit from both
cores or will each application only have access to one or the other
rather than utilise both cores?

Will benefits only manifest themselves where 2 or more apps are
running.

The benefits are when you've more than one app running, if the software
is SMP aware plus any benefit per core you get in the speed and L2
cache differences between the new and the old.
