I have an upgrade version of Windows XP Pro which I want to install on a new machine (see below). To do this I need to have a previous version of Windows working.No you don't. Just install it as per normal and wave the Win98 CD at it when it asks.
Weird, because it certainly should boot. Is this a real official Micro$oft CD? Does the hardware pass your basic memtest86 checks (or won't it boot from a memtest86 CD either?)
