Re: Recommend a good IDE drive for 24*7 use?

I'm looking for a hard drive to run 24*7 in my home server. For budget
and compatibility, it needs to be IDE, ideally >= 300 GB.
Most desktop IDE drives aren't designed for 24*7 running. Can anyone
recommend any that are? Sadly my budget doesn't stretch to SCSI.
A wide temperature range would be good, too, as I can't really stretch
to aircon in my domestic datacentre!
Candidates so far:
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 400GB £128.96 from Dabs
Western Digital Caviar 320GB WD3200SB £74.78 from Dabs
My first idea was Barracuda, as their earlier drives have been OK.
But Chronos suggested the WD drive (over on
comp.unix.bsd.freebsd.misc), as it's from their RAID Edition range.
Thanks for your time,
- Martin.
The man to ask would be "Odie" in uk.adverts.computer - he does HD data
recovery and is somewhat an expert in HD's
Hope this helps
Darryl.
