Want to increase RAM on a PlatiniX 2.
Removing existing 128MB stick & inserting two 256MB PC133 SDRAM DIMM
sticks leads to memory scan on boot as 1MB i.e., double the size, &
the machine stops there - no POST.
Have carried out the Crucial memory scan with the original 128MB in
place alone & it confirms it is the above memory spec & but the mobo
is 100MhzFSB.
FSB and memory clocks are separate. This board (and all i845 SDRAM
boards) supports PC133.
i845 boards are normally very tolerant to DIMM configurations, although
it's possible that you've picked up registered or ECC memory that may
not work. Registered memory usually has a couple of little buffer chips,
while ECC has nine chips per side instead of eight.
It might be worth flashing the BIOS. Suprisingly, QDI still provide the
files.
The ones I have (& had) are eight/side. Don't want to start flashing
unless really necessary.
Is the memory chips on one side significant? Is yes, then what's the
term that describes them uniquely?
