It isn't spyware. THe stupid twats complaining that it was installed
For the M$ attitude to what IMHO is spyware see these forums:
without their knowledge are lying.
Yes, it does give you an EULA, but then so does most of the spyware, which
comes bundled with free software.
I have no problem with Microsoft enforcing their intellectual property, I
kind of wondered why it took them so long, but crikey, get it right. I would
suggest that 99.99% of dodgy windows XPs out there are the volume license
variant with the early keys that where leaked, and the more recent keys that
arent blocked by sp1 or sp2.
It seems Microsoft are going much further then picking off the VLK installs
though, they are actively verifying legitimate keys, and that no other
machine is using the same key simultaneously (ie, for those who got around
the activation process), and those it claims are using keys generated by
none microsoft key generators.
Reading some of the forums, it seems people are getting new machines, direct
from the manufacturer, installing updates, and getting stung for WGA. This
is not good enough, not by a long stretch, and if MS get burnt, it will
teach them a lesson.
