I'm running WindowsXP Pro on an old MSI-6119 in a Packard Bell PC, similar

I've never understood what I'm looking at in Device Manager when it comes
to
Universal Serial Bus Controllers. And I'm having a problem with the
installation of a card that was installed, but in another PCI slot. I
changed a few PCI boards around in slots today and the USB card was still
okay after the change. But now there is a problem.
What I did was simply rearrange my PCI cards. I probably sahould have
uninstalled each one, then reinstalled seperately. Actually WindowsXP just
detected the rearranged cards as if they wre newly fitted and began
installing them. Everything seemed okay.
Anyway, now if I connect my USB 2.0 card, WindowsXP freezes halfway through
bootup. I get my desktop, then HDD stops responding.
I wonder if what I should to is disable in Device Manager all those devices
I can that are associated with PCI slots. If I uninstall, WindowsXP simply
takes control and automatically installs the devices.
With everything disabled, I install the PCI USB card, then if that works,
one-by-one uninstall the other PCI devices and let WindowsXP install
when I booting up..
I bet there is a conflict somewhere.
