My sister has Win XP Pro Corporate and is getting WGA

She has gone out and bought a proper XP Home.
Please can anyone tell me how to legitimatise her existing
setup without formatting and installing XP Home from scratch.
Thanks.
If she wanted to go legit I think she should have followed the links on the
WGA page.
From what I read Microsoft will sell you a new product key ( I think foraround £90). You then download a program, KeyUpdateTool.exe, which scans
your machine to check the validity of all system files. Then you enter your
new product key. Then you are legit, according to Microsoft.
You cannot use an XP Home key on an XP Pro installation or vice versa.
As she has already bought a new XP Home cd it means either a new install
using the new XP Home or keep the XP Pro and get rid of the nags and then
try and get her money back somehow. Or keep the XP Home for her next
machine.
Not much help, sorry.
Major Tom.
