Their KB articles actually contradict one another, essentially there
are 2 forms of Dynamic Disk as far as XP-Pro SETUP is concerned.
Blimey, how ridiculously complex is that? It does fit with what I
experienced, I installed on a basic disk then converted it to Dynamic.
o You can reverse Dynamic back into Basic
o However best solution is to backup & restore :-)
If you plan for the former, you need a contingency for the latter
which may involve several spare large HDs - not a cheap solution.
Presumably it's all to avoid people arranging a RAID set on a
nearby w2003server box, then installing XP on them. Though
I really can't see any reason why MS would object.
I suspect so - basically to stop people using XP-Pro as a "server",
specifically small workgroup file server with software RAID-5.
Not tried a RAID-1 array in XP-Pro System-Disks.
Frankly a 3ware 2-port ATA is 76ex VAT, cheaper auto-rebuild.
