At the end of the install and as it finished the hard drive is now loud -
it is definately louder and is now sounding very chatty/rattly - is this
down to the file system change or the start of a failing drive .... ?

How do I check a drive in Suse? It'll drive me nuts if it carry's on like
that!

Either way first toe definatly found warmer water in Suse ...
Boot off the manufacturer's diagnostic floppy. It won't care what OS is
installed.

Of course .... sit in front of something totally unfamiliar and brain shuts
down!! The seatools diagnostics give the drive a green light - its loud when
its seeking/reading data.

The drive is a seagate baracuda v ST380023a - certainly quieter before Suse
got hold of it, would Suse have altered the drives acoustic setting? (Just
seemed odd the noise started straight after Suse's final hardware run
through on install.)

How do I check/change a drives acoustic setting? - a quick search doesnt
seem to point to the tool to download.
