This comp is not high end stuff and at the moment it has two sticks of
PC133 SDRAM 128 MB in place. However it is a KM2M MSI Combo and will
also take 184 pin DDR SDRAM. The manual says PC2700/PC2100/PC1600.
When I ran the Crucial advisor it also comes up with
DDR PC3200 . CL=3 . UNBUFFERED . NON-ECC . DDR400 . 2.6V . 64Meg x 64
It appears that it is cheaper to buy this than the others and my mind
says well it may come in handy if I get richer and buy a more powerful
rig.
So can you set me straight is it a case that it just 'slows down' to
accommodate the limits of the motherboard.
The "speed" of a memory stick is simply the fastest that it is guaranteed to
run at and be stable. Running it at lower speeds will not present any
problems. Buy at leat 512MB or IGB if you can afford it.
