sata woes

Ok after a battle i finally found a sata driver from the asus site and F6
and installed it during a win2k pro (sp4) install, all went well, rebboted,
set up the keyboard locality time/date etc and then win2k requested remove
setup cd and re-boot, windows starts to boot and then i get the BSOD
INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE,,,,,,,?
Im pulling my bloody hair out, any body got any ideas what is wrong.
ASUS A8N-VM CSM mobo
Seagate barracuda 300gb sata hdd
Windows 2k (sp4)
