Look at the video card first as odd as that might sound.
It certainly sounds odd - but you were right! First component I tried was
the video card - removed it and the machine POSTed (ie. beeped, complaining
about there being no video card). With an old S3 PCI card I can even get
into the BIOS configuration...
So it seems like it's my graphics card - a Gigabyte 6000GT. Will see if
something's shorted out on it, else I'll assume it's fried and will look
for a new one.
