Hi,
I would like to dabble with half life 2, fear and the godfather type
of
game - I don't mind having the game settings on minimal as long as
they're playable (smooth in movement/action ect).

Would it be possible - keeping under £60.00 (under £50.00 would be
preffered though) ?. Any card suggestions would need to be PCI (I
have no AGP slot) ?

If you have up to £60 you could easily replace both motherboard and
graphics card with much better results overall. Look here for
low-cost refurbished motherboards and graphics cards
http://www.retekdirect.co.uk/ I have used them before and had no
problems and good service. For example an AGP radeon 9500 (£17.63
Including VAT) will handle the likes of Half Life 2 OK and you will
also have a path for further AGP upgrades in the future. Something
like one of these would leave you with well over £30 to spend on a
motherboard. You would also get a 90 day warranty. If you can sell
your old board for, say £15 net then that would increase your options
even further. One last comment - if you are buying a graphics card
then research it carefully first - there are a plethora of confusing
descriptions and designations and the name alone may tell you very
little.

Hmmm, I would like to avoid all the trading, research, arrangments and
deliveries ect, untill I find it more neccesary. Thanks for the link
though - bookmarked for another day for now.

thanks,

James.
