Win 98 my mouse has gone away. No symbol on the screen, settings lookplug it back in
OK,
control panel seems to think mouse is present - any ideas please.
Peter
It is!
Have you tried it on another PC to make sure the mouse isn't knackered?
Less drastic things to try -
It is a bit dramatic, but will work.
boot up with a win98se boot disk (make sure the disk has the 'scanreg'
command)
type scanreg /restore
restore it before the problem happened.
voila
go into the BIOS to see if the mouse is working (only helpful if the
BIOS actually uses the mouse).
or
disable the mouse port in BIOS, reboot, enable the mouse port in BIOS,
reboot, to see if it gets detected and the correct drivers installed.
