Trouble is then GenuineDisadvantage blocks you from getting any
updates. I think MS have closed the loopholes since all those
websites sprang up with instructions and plugins etc to circumvent
it.

If you have a pirated copy you can still update providing it has a
unique key.

Can it tell the difference between genuine keys and ones generated by
keygens? This, er acquaintance's PC has the latter. It works OK for
installing SP1 and SP2, but not GA.

You can switch off a command in Internet Explorer or paste a line of
java into the address bar.

YM javascript. It doesn't work (any more). Neither do any of the
scripts and plugins etc etc. At least not to get Defender (anti
spyware).

I prefer the genuine copy I have on a laptop
as it's smoother. When people distribute pirated copies you never
know what spyware is built in or what backdoors are open to hackers!

And that's different from the official version, how? ;-)

Alternatively... disable the Windows Genuine Advantage plug-in!

Then you just get sent to a different page requiring you to run the
check as a separate program.

Well your acquantiance should pay for Genuine Microsoft Windows Software like I do http://members.lycos.co.uk/venus/genuine.JPG then they can download Windows Defender. Why don't you download it and then install it other machine. I can download it and upload it for you if you want. Although I shouldn't support your activities.

And to all those opposed...
Hmm...well
