Also on pagefile side ... ive put together a windows 2003 server today -
3gb of memory - have put the /3GB switch in the boot.ini file but was
wondering what to set the page file to or leave the server to worry
about that itself.

Its basically a file and print server.

Anyone recommend?

I don't think the /3GB switch is of any benefit for such a server. Its
purpose is to allow more (virtual) address space to be made available to
applications. In particular, the /3GB switch has nothing to do with the
amount of physical RAM. (Actually, not quite: it would be fairly pointless
to enable it on a system with only a small amount of RAM. That doesn't mean
it isn't pointless on a system with lots of RAM.)

A pagefile is useful for a fileserver because the OS can increase the amount
of RAM available for disc cache, but if it is "basically a file and print
server" you probably won't use all that much. Performance Monitor (perfmon)
can monitor page file usage; if it remains low (as I suspect it will) and
the disc space is not a problem, then I recommend leaving it alone.
