It shouldn't be impossible to get the partition working again. You can
download a utility to create floppies that won't be corrupted. The links on
the HP site don't seem to be working anyway. I don't suppose removing the
NIC driver from within Windows is likely to help ? No point getting another
internal modem untill you know for sure if you can get it to work in this
machine. Perhaps an external modem is the only answer. I would have like to
have known if there was something wrong with the modem or just an
"invisable" conflict for future reference. Although I`m not quite sure you
could call it an "invisable" conflict as there are no conflicts rather an
incompatibility.
