Not sure what you mean by "backup server". Do you mean a machine to
simply provide disk space for use by other systems?
If so, and you mean to run it as a file server, then many distributions
of Linux will do it. I'm using Debian for a similar purpose.
What spec is the PIII? MHz, RAM??
