I want to get rid of my current PSU which is very loud.
I would like toi get one that will work with my current ATX format Case buut will be able to upgrade to a BTW in a year or two.
The poers supply Unit should boost around 450W. nI know that there are a few fanless PSU out there but the reactions on them are mixed. I've heard some good reviews about the Hiper Type R PSU so would like to hear what you think.

Seasonic S12 is the current top recommendation at http://www.silentpcreview.com/.

Recommend the Hiper PSUs. The basic Hiper 425W PSU is extremely quiet and very well priced.

At half the price of the Seasonic I wouldn't rate it, and that 20dB claim is a joke.

No its not, have you actually tried one?
I have a hiper type R, it is completely and utterly inaudible. I dont just mean quiet, its inaudible - i cant possibly tell if the fan is running. Rock solid voltages too, very very highly reccomended. Every other review says the same thing about them so i dont know where you get your claims from

The 425W is not a "type r" and mine was hardly what I'd call quiet. I have a 525W hiper at the moment (the 425W one is in for repair due to fan failure), and it's a little better but again, not silent.

Happy with them other than that though!
