Lost XP product key - before install.
Following up my post "Installing XP over 98", after opening the XP
packet my friend has managed to throw away the shrink-wrap to which the
product key was attached. The rubbish has gone out and the dustmen have
been. Now I'm a bit more than stuck!
The CD envelope has a bar-code on it, is it possible either Komplett
(the vendor of the OS) or MS has a record of product code matching the
bar-code on the envelope? I know I could be on the phone for ages if I
call either so I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right
direction before I spend hours listening to "your call is important to
us".
Any suggestions or help would be gratefully appreciated.
