Now, I admit being kind of a ole country boy.  I never considered that
my movements and activities might be of interest to anybody.   But
looking at the website, understanding how the internet is being used
today, with all the other terrorist stuff, etc.   -  that some people
have gone to the trouble to develop whole programs to track our
activities, even supermarkets, right down to our buying
habits...really does bother me.  There's no such thing as freedom or
privacy anymore, is there?

What do  you think?

No. Dosn't worry me. Not any more. (This is not a new thing, consider the sort
of data the like of the Stasi held in Communist East Germany on almost
everyone, or, for that matter, the Hungarian Secret police were discovered
to have when the archives were opened by the rebels in 1956. )

Even here, back in the British time, massive records were kept for security
purposes, most of which were destroyed by the rebels in a raid just before
the British (as in UK) pulled out. I consider the best security is like the
gnu's when they cross, keep in the middle of the herd, the crocs attack the
outliers.

Good link about GPS, etc, will need later reading. I note that gangsters,
Taliban , etc, are aware of all this, its the amateurs that get caught.

Dear Greymaus: There's an additional link, actually a video
explanation by the individual that's been developing this, GPS Human
Tracking Model. The name for all this is: Hierarchial Conditional
Random Fields for GPS-Based Activity Recognition. Here's the link to
his video conference presentation, which does explain what I've
already posted above.

His explanation makes that Pdf text more easily understood, as the
same graphics are included. They're working on this stuff to develop
a method to assist those who may be experiencing early stages of
dementia, specifically Alzheimers patient assistance. - or so they
say. At any rate, it's good to learn what goes into developing a
model using GPS technology and algorhythmns. Fascinating for an old
farm kid on a cold Feb. night. 19 deg. F. here right now, snug as a
bug in a rug, with a nice fire to watch in the woodchucker....a really
nice coffee on the side, surrounded by the rest of the Burkholder
Tribe, with the Oldies Channel working overtime.

You need to have Internet Explorer 6 or higher, and one of the later
Media Players to see and hear it.

Hope you can see and hear it. It's really interesting.
